After a long day of traveling, you finally arrive for a relaxing evening at your hotel.
As you approach the porte cochere, something already feels different. Completely clear of snow, you wonder why the valet staff still looks so calm after digging out of the blizzard.
As you enter the lobby and approach registration, you instantly warmth and comfort, despite the gusting winds outside. The welcoming attitude of the staff fits perfectly with your first impression.
Stepping into your room, you quickly kick off your shoes and stretch your legs. You hesitantly step on the tile floor to open the mini-bar and suddenly realize the floor is warm, not cold.
You look around the room to find the heater by the window, but the typical noisy contraption is nowhere to be found. You find the thermostat and turn it up or down a degree out of habit, realizing no adjustment was even needed … the temperature was already perfect.
Later, you are seated by the window for dinner. As you watch the blizzard blow outside, you are puzzled by your warmth. Maybe it’s the wine!
Finally, you ask the server why every area of the hotel is so warm and comfortable.
“Oh, we have electric radiant heat throughout the property. That’s all!”

Challenges: This hotel directly across from the United Nations just completed (Sept) a $30 million refurbishment to West Tower. “The completely gutted interior renovation was achieved within an unprecedented nine-month period,…” “Exclusive to West Tower guests, state-of-the-art technology includes touch-screen environment controls, iPod docking stations, NESPRESSO® machines, and complimentary high-speed WiFi” and radiant heated bathrooms.

Results: The 2×4 heaters were installed in the ceiling and painted to match the ceiling in order that they blend in perfectly. They are controlled by the SmartRooms controller, a flush mounted thermostat designed to sense radiant heat.
Jefferson Hotel – Washington, DC
Challenges: This hotel underwent a $20 million refurbishment. 99-room luxury boutique hotel is named after Thomas Jefferson. “Thomas Jefferson once said, ‘Every generation needs a new revolution.’ At the Jefferson, Washington, DC, a revolution in comfort and hospitality is at hand.” The bathrooms were targeted as an area requiring superb heating comfort.

Results: The radiant ceiling panels were installed into the ceiling using plaster frames. In addition, the panels were painted to meet the exacting color standards of the ceiling so that they would blend in perfectly. They did.
Cooper Square Hotel (renamed Standard East Village) – New York, NY
Challenges: This was a new designed and built, 21-floor boutique hotel offering stunning city views. The designers wanted to provide warm floors in the bathrooms. Due to the bathroom sizes, standardized floor heating systems were not available.
Product – Architectural Series Electric Radiant Heating
Result: In order to heat the floor fully, custom designed floor warming systems were made to fit in each bathroom and at no additional costs above a standard sized floor warming system.
Marriott Courtyard – Aberdeen, South Dakota
Challenges: Clear snow and ice so guests can safely enter the hotel and avoid slips and falls.
Product – Snow & Ice Melting Electric Radiant System
Result: Snow and ice melting was installed on walkways and the porte cochere to provide safety for guests and reduce the costs of snow removal
Hyatt House – New York, NY
Challenges: Heat loss at the glass was causing rooms to be cold during the winter as well as excessive heating bills.
Product – Architectural Series Electric Radiant Heating
Result: Electric radiant heating was used to warm the glass windows and objects in the room, creating comfort for guests and dramatically reducing energy usage.
